Nintendo launches Tvii app
December 20, 2012
Nintendo’s Tvii app has launched in the US and Canada. The previously delayed app offers an interactive online guide to TV, Hulu Plus, and Amazon Instant Video programming – as well as the ability to search online for programming info and post comments via social platforms.
The Wii U’s gamepad plays the role of the remote with the app, letting users find a show across different services, touch a selection, and the controller does the rest.
“After December 20th, you’ll never look at your TV the same way again,” said Nintendo of America President and COO Reggie Fils-Aime. “Wii U owners have already experienced the transformative effect that the GamePad has on game play and social interaction. Nintendo TVii shows how the integrated second screen of the GamePad can also transform and enhance the TV viewing experience. Welcome to the new world of TVii.”
Several other services including Wikipedia and IMDb have either been confirmed or rumoured to land on Nintendo’s application at some point.
