Cablevision: Half subs have no power
November 2, 2012
By Chris Forrester
Hurricane Sandy is still badly affecting cable viewers in the New York area. Cablevision, with around 3 million customers, says about half of its cabled homes are still without power (as at November 1st). New York’s electrical power generator, Con Edison, says some homes will be without power until November 11th.
The catastrophe is expected to cost Cablevision up to $25 million to $40 million in repairs and lost business/compensation, according to analyst Tom Eagan of Canaccord Genuity.
