Broadcast technology specialist Rohde & Schwarz is extending the reach of its product portfolio with the introduction of the R&S AVHE100, its first product for the audio/video (A/V) headend market.
The company suggests the solution differs from conventional solutions in its architecture and its use of technologies, such as R&S CrossFlowIP, that greatly improve fail-safety. All essential headend functions are integrated in just a few hardware components. The company’s initial focus for the R&S AVHE100 is on the DVB-T2 and DVB-T standards.
Juergen Nies, EVP and Head of Broadcasting Division, said that the company’s strong financial performance and expertise had led it to looking at establishing a presence across the full chain of broadcasting. “It’s a logical step for our expertise,” noted Hannes Strobel, Director, Amplifier and Headend systems. “We know the market and understand the issues. We’ve designed the R&S AVHE100 to offer minimum complexity, while maximising availability and being ready for the future.”
