NHK’s English-language World TV channel has added Myanmar (Burma) to its distribution coverage. It is available to viewers on the local Skynet bouquet of channels. Also available is NHK’s World Premium channel, a pay-TV service.
Myanmar is very much in the international spotlight as it continues to make progress toward democracy. Opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi won a seat in parliament in the by-elections which took place in April.
NHK World is now available to some 130 countries and a potential audience of about 160 million.
