Chilean FTA considering pay-TV

Chile’s association of FTA broadcasters is considering launching a pay-TV bouquet on DTT. The Anatel grouping of channels is examining whether a pay-TV platform could exist or rival the existing pay-TV choices available to viewers.
There’s a new Bill currently being studied by Chile’s upper house which would permit Anatel to use part of their frequency allocations for pay-TV services.
The scheme under consideration is that Anatel’s members would fund the establishment of any technical system needed, sharing transmission towers and so forth.
