Shanghai Media Group’s (SMG) IPTV subsidiary BesTV New Media  has revealed that BesTV, along with SMG and SMG subsidiary Radio and Television Shanghai (RTS), has signed an IPTV broadcast and control platform cooperation agreement with CCTV’s national online TV station CNTV. BesTV’s IPTV broadcast and control platform will function as a backup for CNTV’s national integrated IPTV broadcast and control central platform. BesTV and CNTV will both provide channels and programming content to the central platform.

BesTV New Media’s wholly-owned subsidiary BesTV Network TV Technology Development will form a joint venture with CNTV, which will be responsible for operating the central platform, but BesTV would not disclose any particulars regarding the joint venture’s ownership or partnership models.
