Dubai-based Arabic broadcaster MBC has apologised for accidentally showing a movie containing a nude scene. ‘Into the Wild’, directed by Sean Penn, showed a scene of partial nudity which normally would have been edited out. The film was shown on its MBC Max channel.
The movie created something of a storm on social network site Twitter, and Ali Jaber, group TV director at MBC said an investigation is taking place as to how the scene slipped through its own compliance processes.
Jaber added: “The film was screened several times in the past, in its edited form, excluding any of the aforementioned scenes. MBC MAX would like to apologise to its viewers for any cause of embarrassment that they were put under, and we confirm our commitment to take the necessary and appropriate action – technical and resourceful – ensuring that such mistakes will not be repeated in the future.”
