YouView ‘welcomes Google TV’

YouView has welcomed the announcement of a launch for Google TV in the UK. The YouView IP television project that is backed by BBC, ITV, C4 and BT, Arqiva and TalkTalk – has had its launch delayed launch until 2012, and will now may face the might of Google TV from the outset.
“The announcement of Google TV was expected,” YouView told TechRadar “[we] welcome competition that gives the consumer more choice in the market. We are still on track to launch in 2012, when connected television will have relevance for mainstream audiences.”
