Sky Italia nears 5m

Sky Italia added 57,000 new subscribers in the quarter to the end of June, taking its total to 4.97 million subs a new record. It added 230,000 customers over the year to June.
News Corp numbers showed it subsidiary made fourth quarter operating income of $145 million up from $97 million for the same period last year. Increased subscriber revenue was balanced by decreased advertising revenue as turnover remained in line with last year. ARPU was down €1 at €42.
Following the poaching of CEO Tom Mockridge to run News International, the board of News Corp stressed it had every confidence in Sky Italia management.
