PacketVideo files patent infringement lawsuits against Spotify

PacketVideo has filed patent infringement lawsuits against digital music service Spotify in the US and Europe.
The lawsuits come after PacketVideo made attempts to resolve amicably its concerns with Spotify’s patent infringement outside of court.
PacketVideo said Spotify knowingly infringed and continues to infringe on a number of PacketVideo patents that were originally filed in the mid-1990s, and were acquired by PacketVideo as part of its acquisition of Basel, Switzerland-based SDC AG in 2007.
PacketVideo asserts that Spotify’s use of this patent enables Spotify’s cloud-based music service.
