Peer TV STB enters customer testing phase
July 21, 2011
PeerTV, a provider of technology solutions for the OTT market, has announced the immediate availability of evaluation samples of its Android-based Internet TV STB, ES-550.
The product is now entering its customer testing phase and is expected to be formally released during the IBC exhibition in Amsterdam in September.
“Android is expected to become the new standard for Embedded TV devices” says PeerTV CEO, Ofer Barda, highlighting that the traditionally fragmented STB industry still relies on proprietary programming interfaces. “Application development time and cost will be reduced dramatically while user benefits and satisfaction levels are expected to increase to a new level.” says Chen Landau, PeerTV Sales VP, all based on the power and flexibility of the Android operating system.”
