International news channel Al Jazeera English has struck a carriage deal with Spain’s leading cable operator, ONO, widening its current availability in the country to another one million subscribers.
The deal will see Al Jazeera English (AJE) made available on channel 146 in ONO’s TV Esencial package.
The channel is already available in Spain on satellite, cable and IPTV through Digital+, Orange, Movistar Imagenio and R. With this new deal AJE is now available on all major pay-TV platforms in the country.
Martin Ryan, Al Jazeera’s Head of Distribution for the region said the broadcaster was delighted to be celebrating its launch on ONO and to be able to provide Al Jazeera English to a sizeable new audience in an important market.
