HD RTL on Astra
October 25, 2010
The HD version of RTL2 will debut on SES Astra’s HD+ service in December. It takes the platform to seven free-to-air channels. SES Astra says that 300,000 HD+ set-tops and 1.2 million smart cards have been sold since launch.
“The launch of RTL2 HD will further extend the programme choice of HD+ and make it even more attractive,” said Wilfried Urner, managing director of HD+. “The receiver sales demonstrate the popularity of the unique offer and prove that we have developed a successful platform for broadcasters who want to launch high-definition channels in Germany.”
