Gol TV hits one million early
December 16, 2009
From David Del Valle in Madrid
Spain’s first pay DTT channel, Mediapro-owned Gol TV, has reached the one million subs mark three months after its launch as a pay TV channel through all possible platforms, beating its own forecast of one million for the first year of operation.
The channel has 150,000 DTT subscribers, IPTV is its main platform accounting for 60 per cent of its customers. Cable, with 16 per cent, and mobile phones with 9 per cent of its clients are the other distribution platforms.
.
Currently, Spain has 3.7 million pay TV homes out of the total 15 TV million homes, still far from the 50 per cent average’s penetration in Europe.
