Spanish pay-TV losing subs

In the second quarter of the year pay-TV lost 120,000 subs, 90 per cent of them from the DTH platform Digital Plus and cable company ONO, according to the Telecommunications Market Commission (CMT)
Only IPTV operators Jazztelia TV and Telefonica's Imagenio achieved a slight increase their subscription base reaching 8,000 and 608,000 customers respectively. Imagenio plans to surpass 1 million subscribers by 2012 forecasting a bad year in 2010 and a recovery in 2011.
At the end of 2008, Spain's pay-TV had over 4.19 million according to the electronic Association Asimelec. Satellite pay-TV represented 50.6 per cent of all subscribers, with IPTV and cable reaching 17.6 and 31.8 per cent, respectively. Pay-TV revenues amounted to E1.439 billion, up 3.3 per cent with VoD becoming more and more popular.
