May 22, 2009
Chinese consumer electronics manufacturer Hisense has launched two mobile digital TVs based on the DMB-TH and AVS national mobile DTV standards. The mobile televisions were produced using self-developed IP. Hisense has already signed an initial order of 30,000 units with Qingdao Guangdian Mobile Digital TV, who will provide a free trial of the devices to 10,000 commercial and privately owned vehicles.
For the free trial, qualifying car owners will receive a multimedia television set, a CA card and free installation. Other users will pay RMB 1,800 for the device and RMB 240 per year for access to the service. Users will be able to receive nine digital television and radio programmes with the devices.
