During the first three months of 2009 the “Chaînes Canal+” package commanded a 4.5 per cent share of French viewers, a 0.2-point increase from first-quarter 2008 that it says reflects the popularity of Canal+ Family and Canal+ Sport.
The number of unique visitors to the new canalplus.fr website doubled to 2,354,000 in February, representing a 112 per cent increase since the site was revamped in September 2007.
In March, Canal+ video-on-demand customers watched more than 10 million programmes since the catch-up service was introduced in spring 2008. One out of two subscribers regularly used the on-demand service.
Canal+ consolidated revenues totalled E445 million for the first three months of 2009, compared to E457 million in first-quarter 2008. The total subscriptions came to 5.2 million s at end March with 83% digital.
