Sony aids RAI move to HD
December 2, 2008
Radiotelevisione Italiana (RAI) has announced a major investment in XDCAM High Definition technology that will see the Italian public broadcaster transition to an HD infrastructure over a three year period. The deal will see 180 of Sony's High-end PDW-700 camcorders and 180 PDW-HD1500 decks used across the organisation's entire range of operations from news gathering to drama and documentaries. The flexibility of XDCAM tapeless technology will enable RAI to manage its legacy SD operations and move to HD transmission over the next three years.
