NOS launches augmented reality on TV
October 14, 2016
From Branislav Pekic in Rome
NOS has become the first operator in Portugal to offer TV content in augmented reality. Viewers equipped with Microsoft HoloLens holographic glasses will be able to use the NOS TV online application to enjoy an interactive, integrated and personalised TV experience.
Users can project the TV content they are watching online in the experimental application. For example, viewers are able to make their morning run alongside President Underwood from House of Cards or turn their living room into a Game of Thrones battle theatre.
The NOS TV application enables users to access the operator’s online TV service via a set-top box, PC, tablet or smartphone. The service has over 90 TV channels, with the Restart TV and Automatic Recording functions, and can be synchronized with the TV user’s profile.
The augmented reality experience of NOS TV can be shared, simultaneously, by various users that can interact in the same environment.
