Mediaset and Atresmedia profit from ad rebound

The two largest TV groups in Spain, Mediaset and Atresmedia, have managed to multiply by three and two, respectively, their profits in 2015 with the ad revenues significantly increasing.
Mediaset, operator of Tele 5 and Cuatro among others, had a profit of €166.2 million, almost 3 times the €59.5 million profit the previous year, with an EBITDA of €222.7 million, up 35.9 per cent. Meanwhile, Atresmedia, operator of Antena 3 TV and La Sexta among others, achieved a net of €99.2 million, more than the double the previous year with €46.7 million, with an EBITDA of €165.7 million, up 29.8 per cent.
The strong recovery of the ad market is behind the good results. Mediaset improved by 4.9 per cent its net ad revenues to €898 million with a total turnover of €971.9 millio, up 4.3 per cent.
Atresmedia’s total turnover reached €970.2 million, up 9.8 per cent with a rise of 6 per cent in its ad revenues.
