Delia Bushell, Managing Director, BT TV and BT Sport, has said the operator’s third year of broadcasting will see BT TV come of age, with additional and exclusive rights to European football matches, the launch of an Ultra HD service and box, as well as a new channel.
Speaking at the Future of Broadcasting Conference in London, Bushell said that what was considered an “audacious” idea when the telco secured Premier League rights and announced plans to launch a sports channel had “re-energised and grown” the pay-TV market.
“We wanted to give sports fans a whole new viewing experience,” she said, suggesting that it approach had made premium sport more easily accessible. “It’s gone even better than we thought it would go,” she declared.
Bushell used the Conference platform to announce the exclusive launch of AMC on BT TV. “We wanted to broaden our appeal to include a female audience and fans of drama,” she advised.
