NOW TV on Vodafone
November 4, 2014
Vodafone is to offer BSkyB’s NOW TV services to its mobile customers. Subscribers to its Red 4G bundle will get access to shows on the NOW TV pay-as-you-go service. These include TV box sets and 13 entertainment channels such as Sky One and Sky Atlantic.
Vodafone already offers Sky Sports to its mobile customers through a previous deal, as well as the Netflix video streaming service. It wants customers to use TV and music services pushing them towards higher-priced tariffs offering more data and faster speeds. Vodafone is investing heavily in improving its network to carry bandwidth-hungry video services at high speeds.
NOW TV allows consumers to buy daily or monthly access to sports and entertainment, rather than committing to longer subscriptions. The entertainment pass offered by Vodafone normally costs £6.99 (€9) a month.
BT and TalkTalk are preparing to launch their own quadplay bundles of mobile, fixed line, broadband and TV.
