Bulgarian telco Neterra Communications is switching satellites for its DTH ‘white label’ (W4) transmissions. Spacecom’s Amos is the new carrier, and Neterra is switching from Telenor’s 1 degree West orbital neighbourhood to the older Amos-2 satellite which operates from the nearby 4 degree West slot.

Amos-2 was launched in 2003 and has an expected 12-years of life, and is intended to be replaced by Amos-6 due for launch in 2015.

Neterra says the W4 bundle will offer more than 60 channels, and soon be expanded to include HDTV transmissions.

Telenor Satellite Broadcasting, in a statement, said: “[We] concluded that the project was not progressing according to expectations and the contract was therefore terminated. We would like to wish Neterra all the best in their future endeavours.”
