ERT back on air, probably
June 18, 2013

Greek public broadcaster ERT is expected to be back on the air before June 19th. An Athens court ruled that the closure action by one of the members of the coalition government was illegal. ERT’s three channels went off the air a week ago but web-based ‘broadcasts’ have continued.
The court said a plan by Prime Minister Antonis Samaras to replace ERT with a smaller, leaner operator was correct and in order, but that nobody had the right to simply terminate transmissions. The Prime Minister said he was also looking to the BBC to advise on how cuts and a less expensive operation could be achieved.
