TiVo sticks with Motorola patent action

Over the past year TiVo has earned hundreds of millions of dollars from rivals who allegedly used its patented TimeWarp technology without permission. This week, a Texas judge ruled that TiVo’s claim against technology giant Motorola would stand and proceed.
US District Judge Rodney Gilstrap agreed that TiVo followed the rules of the court when it expanded its patent infringement claim against Motorola. In essence TiVo had added additional types of set-top boxes to its action. Motorola had attempted to argue that these amendments were improperly added.
TiVo is claiming “billions of dollars” in its damages claim against Motorola. Google now owns Motorola Mobility.
