CNN bids for Mashable?
March 12, 2012
CNN is said to be in “advanced talks” over a potential buyout of social media blog Mashable. Reuters says CNN is negotiating with the seven-year-old social-media-focused website over a potential acquisition.
If it went through the news site would be CNN.com’s largest acquisition to date, having bought iPad magazine publisher Zite, whose app determines what users like reading, for an estimated $25m last year. The acquisition of Mashable is predicted to be worth around $200m.
