Arianespace’s Ariane 64 rocket is scheduled to launch on February 12th carrying a cargo of Amazon Leo satellites, subject to the usual weather conditions.
This flight (VA267) with the first Ariane 64 launch, carries a large batch of satellites for Amazon Leo, whose mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. This mission will be the first European launch supporting the constellation and the first of 18 Ariane 6 launches contracted for its deployment.
The launch window is scheduled to open at 4.45pm (to 5.13pm) UTC from Europe’s Spaceport at Kourou, French Guiana.
The rocket will carry 32 Amazon Leo satellites into low Earth orbit. The Ariane 64 is the most powerful version of the Ariane 6 fleet and its power depends on the four ‘strap-on’ boosters. The rocket can handle 20 tonnes of cargo to orbit.
