SpaceX will launch its latest batch of 53 Starlink broadband-by-satellite craft into orbit today (June 17th). Launch time is scheduled 12.08 Eastern Time (16.08 UTC) from Florida’s Kennedy Space Center.

The Falcon 9 booster rocket is now a tried and tested vehicle having flown on 12 previous occasions. Following the launch it is expected to land on the floating drone barge ‘A Shortfall of Gravitas’.

The launch is designated number 4-19. The most recent launch – its 47th Starlink mission – took place on May 18th which was the third Starlink mission in five days. SpaceX is averaging a 7-day gap between launches.

SpaceX is now orbiting its version 1.5 of the Starlink fleet. These have improved laser inter-satellite links.
