The SeaLaunch floating launch platform is being sold, according to reports from Russian news agency TASS.

SeaLaunch, which comprises the Odyssey launch platform and an accompanying control vessel, is owned by Russia’s S7 which is itself a subsidiary of Russia’s state backed Rosatom,

TASS reports that S7 is set to sell the Odyssey floating platform and the commander ship as part of its programme to divest non-core assets. The most likely buyer is another subsidiary of Rosatom. Negotiations are “under way, adds TASS.

SeaLaunch, back in its heyday, managed 36 launches of which 32 were successful. However, it went bust and suspended activity in 2014 and was bought by S7 in 2016.

On March 17th, SeaLaunch’s Commander vessel arrived to Slavyanka and berthed at the Slavyanka Shipyard in Russia’s Far East. The Odyssey spacecraft launch platform arrived at the port on March 30th.
