HTC launches Vive Focus standalone VR
November 15, 2017
HTC has unveiled a standalone virtual reality headset branded the Vive Focus. The all-in-one VR device does not need to be connected to a computer or use a smartphone’s screen to show images.
The device has an AMOLED screen and uses internal sensors to work out where the user is looking, giving a greater ability to explore virtual scenes.
HTC did not reveal any pricing or release dates for the Vive Focus but said it would initially be available in China.
The move comes a month after Facebook’s Oculus division unveiled plans for its own untethered headset.
