Forecast: Gaming audio market set for growth
July 14, 2026
The global gaming audio market shipped 42.7 million units in 2025, representing year-on-year growth of 3.9 per cent, according to research from Futuresource Consulting. The market is forecast to continue its upward trajectory, reaching 52.8 million units by 2030 as gamers increasingly upgrade their audio experiences and demand more advanced wireless products.
The research identifies wireless connectivity as one of the industry’s most significant growth catalysts. Technologies such as low-latency wireless, Bluetooth LE and hybrid 2.4GHz architectures are rapidly transitioning from premium differentiators to standard expectations within mid-range gaming audio products.
“As gamers spend more time across increasingly immersive platforms, audio has become a critical part of the experience,” commented Nikolaos Tzoumerkas, Lead Analyst, Futuresource Consulting. “The next phase of growth will be driven by better wireless performance, comfort, convenience and the growing convergence of gaming, content creation and entertainment.”
While penetration levels in developed regions are reaching maturity, replacement demand remains strong. Gamers are increasingly delaying upgrades until compelling innovations emerge, creating significant opportunities for manufacturers that can deliver tangible improvements in performance, battery life and audio quality.
The report also highlights the growing importance of gaming speakers. As gaming desks evolve into multifunction entertainment and content creation hubs, demand for immersive desktop audio continues to increase. Gaming speaker shipments grew 5.5 per cent in 2025 and are forecast to reach 570,000 units by 2030.
Looking ahead, major software launches are expected to stimulate additional demand. The upcoming launch of Grand Theft Auto VI on November 19th is anticipated to trigger a new upgrade cycle, particularly among gamers seeking more immersive audio experiences, clearer communications and greater comfort during extended gaming sessions.
