PerfectDraft campaign stories the man who travels 100 miles for a Stella

PerfectDraft, a draught beer machine that gives users the ability to pour pub quality, chilled beer in their own homes, has launched a new campaign to promote the brand by finding the person who needs it most: they found the man who lived furthest from a pub anywhere in the UK.
AB InBev – owner of PerfectDraft and the world’s largest brewer, who last year signed a Netflix ad deal, located Steven Wilson who dwells on Fair Isle – the UK’s most remote inhabited island, located 27 miles from Orkney. Despite the island having a population of some 50 people, there are no pubs on the island. Therefore, to enjoy a pint of draught beer, Wilson walks, sails, hitches a lift and walks some more – as documented in the short film below. It’s a 120-mile round trip every time he desires a pint – and that’s only if the weather allows. That is until Wilson became the owner of a PerfectDraft machine.
“Getting to a pub has always meant planning a full day around it, if not two or three, and sometimes it just isn’t possible,” said Wilson. “Being the home on the island where people can come together for a proper pint means a lot.”
Research has found that communities who get together for a pint are happier and better-connected to their local community. At a time when our lives are becoming increasingly digital and replacing face-to-face interaction, the need for social gatherings is growing in necessity – especially when on a remote island. The PerfectDraft campaign aims to emphasise this point.
