Data: Audience down 11% for Trump’s State of the Union 2026

An estimated 32.6 million people watched US President Donald Trump deliver the 2026 State of the Union address on February 24th, according to Nielsen. The data showed that Trump’s biggest share of the audience were ages 55 and above (drawing 23.6 million). The speech attracted 5.96 million viewers aged 35-54 and 2.05 million viewers aged 18-34.
The address, lasting one hour and 47 minutes, was the longest in US history. While coverage varied by network, 15 US networks televised the address from approximately 9:12pm ET – 10:59pm ET.
The audience was down around per cent on the 36.6 million people who watched Trump’s State of the Union address in 2025, and around the same as the 32.2 million who watched President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address in 2024.
