Switzerland: Sunrise launches SuperSearch
October 13, 2025
Sunrise TV in Switzerland now offers the new SuperSearch function. SuperSearch finds what the user wants across all platforms – with a simple voice command. It uses the artificial intelligence and Google Gemini Flash to do so.
“With SuperSearch, we’re setting new standards when it comes to looking for media content. We’re demonstrating the convenience that artificial intelligence delivers in an increasingly complex environment. SuperSearch finds your favourite shows quickly, precisely and across all platforms – whether they’re on linear or Replay TV, in Video-on-Demand offers or streaming services. Just state your search query and before you know it you’ll see a clearly structured list of the available content that reflects your individual preferences. This is only available with Sunrise TV,” commented Christoph Richartz, Chief Consumer Officer Main Brand at Sunrise.
Thanks to SuperSearch, Sunrise customers with a Sunrise TV Box can use a voice command to look for things like “science-fiction films featuring Brad Pitt”. SuperSearch looks for available content using intelligent attributes, such as actors, film genres, content topics, etc., and brings together the results from a wide range of sources, such as traditional TV channels, on-demand offers and leading streaming services like Disney+, Prime Video and Sky. The result is a selection of films, series and other content suggested precisely in line with personal preferences.
While the traditional search function focusses only on individual keywords, SuperSearch puts a conversation-like search query into the right context and provides matching results and recommendations. SuperSearch therefore differs significantly from previous search functions and redefines content searching. With more specific requests, such as “Show me films featuring the cast from Titanic”, “I’d like to learn something about space, what do you recommend?”, “I like superheroes. What’s available?” or “Show me films that have won an Oscar”, SuperSearch also delivers fast and accurate results and offers a visually appealing presentation.
With SuperSearch, Sunrise TV is the first TV platform in Switzerland to use a Large Language Model (LLM) based on Google Gemini Flash. This artificial intelligence not only understands complex voice commands, but can also process and combine multimodal content (text, image, video). As a result, Sunrise TV customers will not just get their search results faster, but also with greater precision and tailored to their needs. The new SuperSearch function is available now on the Sunrise TV Box in German, French, Italian and English.
