Sensethefuture Pictures announces development of Red, Blue, and Green, documentary

October 13, 2025

Sensethefuture Pictures has announced the development of Red, Blue, and Green: The Unexpected Environmentalists, a new documentary exploring the environmental legacies of US President Richard Nixon and UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. The project is currently seeking international co-production partners.

Red, Blue, and Green offers a provocative reassessment of how two conservative leaders more often associated with economic liberalism and Cold War politics played pivotal roles in shaping modern environmental policy. Nixon established the US Environmental Protection Agency, while Thatcher was among the first global leaders to publicly acknowledge climate change, helping to elevate environmental science on the world stage. The film will be directed by Richard Max, winner of the Bulldog Award for The Plane Crash, bringing his signature blend of investigative depth and cinematic storytelling to this politically charged and historically rich subject.

“The centenary of Margaret Thatcher’s birth is an opportunity to reflect not only on her legacy, but also on the purpose behind our work at Sensethefuture Pictures,” says producer and futurologist Teresa Potocka, founder of the company. “Our storytelling is rooted in foresight, connecting historical insight with future relevance. Red, Blue, and Green explores how environmental leadership can emerge from unexpected places.”

The documentary also reflects on Thatcher’s influence on independent media. Channel 4, launched in 1982 under her government, was created to commission programming exclusively from independent producers; a legacy that aligns with the film’s commitment to fresh, independent voices and archival storytelling.

Potocka, who formerly chaired Conservative Friends of Poland, an organisation proudly supported by Lady Thatcher as its Patron, brings a rare personal and political lens to the film’s narrative. Thatcher’s historic visit to Warsaw in 1988 making her the first British Prime Minister to visit Poland, underscores her symbolic role in bridging East and West, adding further resonance to the film’s transatlantic scope.

The documentary features exclusive access to individuals who worked closely with both Nixon and Thatcher, including renowned journalist and political commentator John Sergeant, whose firsthand insights into Thatcher’s leadership add depth and nuance to the story.

Sensethefuture Pictures is currently seeking international co-production partners, with a passion for archival storytelling, political history, and environmental impact. The project is ideal for collaborators interested in cross-Atlantic narratives and legacy-driven content.
