Titus Welliver, Jessica Frances Dukes join the cast of MGM+ series The Westies

MGM+ has announced that Titus Welliver and Jessica Frances Dukes have joined the cast of its upcoming Original crime drama series The Westies, created by Chris Brancato.
Welliver is best known for his critically-acclaimed lead performance as LAPD detective Harry Bosch in Prime Video’s long-running hit series Bosch and its sequel Bosch: Legacy. His credits also include standout roles in films like The Town, Argo, Transformers: Age of Extinction and series such as Lost and Sons of Anarchy. Welliver is set to play Glenn Keenan, a troubled NYPD officer who grew up with the Westies crew, torn between loyalty to the law and love for his wayward son.
Dukes garnered acclaim for her role as FBI agent Maya Miller in the Emmy-winning series Ozark. She has also appeared in Marvel’s Jessica Jones and MGM+’s recent series Earth Abides. She is also an accomplished stage actress with performances at The Public Theater and in off-Broadway productions. Dukes is set to play Birdie Polk is the sharp and unflinching Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Gambino Task Force, determined to take down Irish and Italian organised crime.
Academy Award-winning actor J.K. Simmons (Whiplash, Spider-Man) was previously announced as a lead in the series, which is set to begin production this July in Toronto, Canada.
The Westies is a gritty and kinetic crime drama centering on New York City’s infamously violent Irish gang of the same name. The series is set in the early 1980s when the construction of the Jacob Javitz Convention Centre on the Westies’ home turf in Hell’s Kitchen promises a financial windfall. Despite being outnumbered fifty-to-one by the Five Families of the Italian Mafia, the Westies’ legendary brutality and cunning have given them the leverage necessary to share the spoils through a fragile détente. But internal conflict between the brash younger generation and the old-school leadership threatens to set a match to this powder keg, which will sweep the Westies into the FBI’s ever-deepening investigation into the Italian mafia.
