Two per cent of Internet Service Providers (ISPs) saw an increase of 0.2 Mbps, 61 per cent stayed the same, and 37 per cent went down 0.2 Mbps in May on the Netflix ISP Speed Index – a monthly update on which ISPs provide the best prime-time Netflix streaming experience.

Forty countries and regions were in the top performance tier in May: Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Colombia, Denmark, Ecuador, El Salvador, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Panama, Paraguay, Portugal, Romania, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, the UK, the US and Uruguay all registered an average speed of 3.2 Mbps.

While no specific countries saw an overall speed increase, several individual ISPs did show improvements since April’s results. These include Cellcom in Israel, Royal Cable in the Philippines, MasMovil DSL in Spain, and Massy Communications in Trinidad and Tobago, all rising from 3.0 to 3.2 Mbps. Oi Internet in Brazil and Inter in Venezuela also saw increases of 0.2 Mbps, improving from 2.0 to 2.2 Mbps and 2.8 to 3.0 Mbps, respectively.
