Crunchyroll hits 13m paying subs

With the global rise of popularity in anime, fuelled by shows such as One Piece and the UK live theatre debuts of productions such as My Neighbour Totoro, Crunchyroll, the online destination for anime content, has announced it has hit 13 million paying subscribers globally spread across 200 countries and territories.
Crunchyroll was founded in 2006 and since grown from strength to strength – the company now has over 15 offices worldwide and a staff retention of 1,000. With the rise in demand for anime paving the way for a more mainstream – audience especially in the west – Crunchyroll says it is making headway on the trend with the content, experiences, events and anime consumer products it offers.
In related news, voting is now open for the 2024 Anime Awards. The eighth annual Crunchyroll event will take place on March 2nd in Tokyo, Japan.
