FilmRise acquires NA distribution rights to Scheme Queens
April 26, 2023
FilmRise, the New York-based film and television studio and streaming network, has acquired all North American distribution rights to the film Scheme Queens from Award nominated director Cas Sigers-Beedles.
Described as a combination of Urban classic Set It Off and heist comedy of Ocean’s Eleven, the film is about four girlfriends who find themselves down on their luck and devise a plan to change their futures.
Max Einhorn, SVP, Acquisitions and Co-Productions for FilmRise, commented: “Scheme Queens is a great example of high-quality Urban cinema being created today by female Black filmmakers that we are always looking to add to our library. This is an underserved audience in the entertainment industry, and we are happy to be adding the film to our growing library of Urban entertainment.”
Scheme Queens had its world premiere at the 2022 American Black Film Festival where it was an Official Selection.
The deal was negotiated by Gabriel Gazoul, Director of Acquisitions, New Release for FilmRise and Jim Tosney, Owner, Fuel Up Entertainment.
