BBC Wales celebrates 100 years

The BBC is marking one hundred years of broadcasting in Wales. On Februay 13th 1923, in a small room on the first floor in Castle Street, Cardiff, Sir John Reith, Controller of the BBC spoke the first words which were broadcast by the BBC in Wales.
To celebrate this historic milestone, the BBC is offering audiences across Wales the opportunity to take part in one of BBC Cymru Wales’s popular programmes. They are:
- An opportunity to co-present Wynne Evans’ Mystery Bus Tour on BBC Radio Wales
- An opportunity to co-present Ifan Evans’ Big Afternoon Quiz on BBC Radio Cymru
- Go behind-the-scenes of the Weatherman Walking series
- Go behind-the-scenes of the next 6 Nations Sin Bin
BBC Radio Wales host, Wynne Evans, commented: “This is a great opportunity and I can’t wait to meet the individual who will join us in the studio to present the Mystery Bus Tour. It’s going to be loads of fun; good luck to everyone taking part.”
Rhuanedd Richards, Director BBC Cymru Wales, added: “Today’s a significant milestone for the BBC in Wales and we really want to say a big thank you to our audiences by throwing open the doors and welcoming the lucky winners as they take part in some of our best known and well-loved programmes.”
