Amazon will make Everybody’s Game, a new rugby union documentary created by Bath Rugby player Beno Obano, available to Prime Video members in the UK from November 26th.
Obano’s personality shines through as he delves into the backgrounds of BAME players within rugby union, including his close friends Maro Itoje, Anthony Watson, Ellis Genge and Biyi Alo. In the documentary the group discuss the perceptions of race and class within the sport, as well as how rugby union could and should be open to everyone in what is a frank, honest and touching analysis of the game that they enjoy.
“I think rugby has traditionally been a sport played and watched by middle-class white people. But, I’ve been able to benefit in so many ways from rugby and I obviously don’t fit that description,” said Obano, Bath Rugby Union Player and creator of Everybody’s Game.”
“With this documentary I want to change the perception of rugby and expose it to more people by telling the stories of non-traditional rugby players in the hope that those spectating and participating in rugby may slowly begin to grow and diversify,” he added.
