Altice shuttering RMC Sports
May 20, 2020
Altice has confirmed plans to exit the pay-TV sports rights market as part of a raft of measures designed to protect its audio-visual business.
“The unpredictable and inflationary rights and pay-TV market requires a rapid and wide-ranging review of the organisation of our pay-TV structures,” the French telco said in a statement.
The retreat will begin with Altice’s rights in athletics, horse riding and tennis.
Many had foreseen Altice’s exit from the sports-rights market after it failed to renew its rights to the Champions League for the 2021-24 cycle.
