October 25, 2018
By Colin Mann
Telecommunications and cable equipment vendor CommScope is in talks to acquire entertainment and communications and CPE specialist ARRIS International, according to a Reuters report, which suggests that negotiations are ongoing and there is no certainty a deal will be reached.
ARRIS itself has been active in sector consolidation, acquiring set-top box maker Pace, Motorola’s CPE business and Ruckus Wireless in recent years.
CommScope posted second quarter sales of $1.24 billion, up 6 per cent, and operating income of $165 million. Last year, the company posted full-year revenues of S$4.56 billion. In 201,7 Arris posted full-year sales of $6.61 billion. It is not clear how any bid would be financed.
