Movistar launches 4K STB with no 4K content
May 22, 2018
From David Del Valle in Madrid
Telefónica’s pay-TV operator Movistar Plus has officially launched a 4K device, but without any 4K content available on the platform.
After six months of trials, Movistar Plus is now distributing the box at a time when the La Liga season has just concluded, (two matches per week were available in 4K). There is likely to be no 4K content until August when La Liga kicks off its new season.
To obtain the box, subscribers must pay a one-off payment of €50.
The box can be connected via WiFi with no cables and is compatible with the Multi + service through which it is possible to access Movistar Plus on several STBs at home.
