Thaicom buying Chinese satellite

Thaicom has ordered a broadband satellite from China Great Wall Industry, the nation’s main source for commercial satellites.
Thaicom is using its satellite division (Thaicom International Satellite) as the buyer. The satellite will be ready for launch towards the end of 2019.
The satellite is valued at $208 million, and will have 37 GHz of Ka-band capacity, and is designed for a 15-year life. Its footprint will cover China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, the Philippines, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand.
