Google unveils Chromecast Ultra
October 6, 2016
As expected, Google has confirmed it is launching a new version of its Chromecast streaming dongle that can stream 4K video.
The ‘Chromecast Ultra’ will cost $79/€69 when it launches in 15 countries in November.
The new device can load content 1.8 times faster than Google’s previous Chromecast dongles. It also supports Ethernet connectivity and improved speeds. Users will need a TV that supports Ultra-HD in order to receive the 4K content, but the Chromecast Ultra will detect the maximum resolution of the display and match the content accordingly.
