Third of top 100 Apple TV apps are games

With Apple recently releasing its updated Apple TV, it’s clear the company sees the technology as its next app platform. In response to this, App Annie, a provider of app analytics and app market data, has released a series of stats on tvOS.
Some of these findings include:
– Of the top 100 most downloaded free apps on tvOS, 80 per cent fall into five categories
– This level of consolidation is higher than when Apple Watch launched (57 per cent)
– One third of the top 100 Apple TV apps are Gaming apps
– 60 per cent of the top 100 free tvOS apps are from the Entertainment and Games categories against 69 per cent for the iPad (in the UK)
