Ninth Rovi patent claim defeated by Virgin Media
January 27, 2015
Virgin Media has successfully overcome the latest in a series of unsuccessful patent infringement claims by Rovi Corporation against the company.
Rovi has agreed to the revocation of a patent centred on a system for recommending television content to viewers based on their past interactions with the TV programme guide.
This is the ninth successful defence by Virgin Media. Every Rovi patent to reach trial or final order in the UK so far has been found invalid, with Rovi repeatedly ordered to reimburse Virgin Media’s legal costs.
