South Korean electronics giant LG Display has sold a massive 578,000 Ultra-HD TV panels in the month of October, according to DisplaySearch’s latest numbers. The volume meant that LG was for the first time in 22 months the ‘top’ supplier of flat panels, and beating rival Innolux into second place. Samsung came in third position.
The total volume of Ultra-HD panels shipped during October, according to DisplaySearch, was some 2.05 million, itself a near-record and following on from September’s 2.39 million.
The LG shipments took 28.1 of the market. Innolux supplies lower-cost brands, not least many which are sold in China. However, LG’s market share was also helped by growing volumes shipped from its Chinese factory in Guangzhou.
Ultra-HD Market share
LG 28.1 per cent
Innolux 24 per cent
Samsung 20.2 per cent
