Uruguay: Net Insight eases Antel DSO
November 4, 2014
Net Insight, a provider of efficient and scalable transport solutions for media, IP and broadcast networks, has announced that the national telecommunications operator Antel in Uruguay has selected the company’s Nimbra solution for a nationwide Digital Terrestrial TV (DTT) network.
Antel, Uruguay’s government-owned telecommunications company is preparing to build a new national DTT network that will carry 19 channels to the country’s national TV broadcasters over an ISDB-T transmitter network. The network will cover the whole of Uruguay and will include 44 transmitters and 28 studios, while the project will be implemented in two phases during 2014 and 2015.
“Latin America remains a focus for Net Insight as the region continues the shift to digital television networks,” says Fredrik Tumegård, CEO at Net Insight. “Antel selected the Nimbra solution for its high quality and overall performance over MPLS. With Taltech as our partner, Antel can look forward to a highly flexible DTT build out, safe in the knowledge that the network will deliver the level of quality of service (QoS) its customers expect and the ability to quickly and easily scale up the network whenever needed.”
